“And Zacharias said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.” And the angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.” ( Luke 1:1-20 NKJV).
Zacharias’ prayer was not answered in the way that he thought that it would be. During his prayer time with the Lord, he asked God to allow him and his wife to have a baby, but years passed, and they got older. Zacharias’ went on with his life until his season changed, and it was time. Time for what you may ask; it was time for the blessing of the Lord over this man and wife to come to pass. The issue was that Zacharias had allowed this prayer to leave his heart, and unbelief took its place. What have you stopped believing God for, and why?
There is a difference between no and not right now. Zacharias’ request was not denied or delayed; it was preserved. We all have prayers on the coals of heaven. We are waiting, but don’t allow your waiting to be a door that will cause you to curse what God is wanting to bless.
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1).
Zacharias and Elizabeth didn’t go to the doctor or get a positive pregnancy test, they got a in season and ‘now’ time word. They were so vital to the plans of God, that Zacharias had a holy hush come upon him because the private, matters. God could not risk Zacharias going out and speaking negatively over what He was blessing. I want to pose this question to you: What has been delayed in your life because of your mouth? What have you said, and who agreed with you? Why did you stop believing God for your miracle?
Go back to God and repent for your unbelief. Every word spoken over your life will not always come from a someone else, it will come directly from God. You must have faith that God can talk to you, and you must respond accordingly when He does.
There are some things that I stopped believing God for because it hurt to much to have faith. In my own way, I became dismissive and angry when the topics were brought up, but now, God is addressing it. He is saying that these things will happen, and I have to choose to have the response of Mary, who was blessed because she believed (Luke 1:45).
What will you say to God today about that prayer that you have decided to stop praying because it did not happen in your time frame? Will you go back to God, repent, and ask Him to help your unbelief, or will you choose to not believe and walk in disobedience when He is telling you to repent? You were chosen for a blessing; will you take it or curse it?
Lord, I repent for not believing you. Heal the years of pain that unbelief has paved and heal my heart as well. My response is that of Mary, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” Lord, make me a good steward of my words and responses. Let them be a blessing in your sight. Forgive me for improper responses, and allow my thoughts to align with your plans. Father, I believe…… In Jesus name, amen.
