“ Before I formed you in the womb knew you” (Jeremiah 5a NKJV).
Dough must get really exhausted. It has to be combined with other ingredients, kneaded, beat on, oiled down to rest after the beating, stuffed into a pan, and then baked. The process is gruesome, but the result is one that everyone loves. People admire the variety that bread comes in, but what about its process of becoming the very thing that many of us love so much.
“So, I went to the potter’s house, and sure enough, the potter was there, working away at his wheel. Whenever the pot the potter was working on turned out badly, as sometimes happens when you are working with clay, the potter would simply start over and use the same clay to make another pot” (Jeremiah 18:3-4 MSG).
First things first, listen to God, and do not follow the voice of the enemy. You are in a process, and it’s hot. God is getting rid of all the things that you asked Him to. You said that you wanted a clean heart, clear vision, and to change your thinking, well, it’s happening, but you must remain in the process, and allow God to keep on forming you.
“Then God’s Message came to me: “Can’t I do just as this potter does, people of Israel?” God’s Decree! “Watch this potter. In the same way that this potter works his clay, I work on you, people of Israel. At any moment I may decide to pull up a people or a country by the roots and get rid of them. But if they repent of their wicked lives, I will think twice and start over with them. At another time I might decide to plant a people or country, but if they don’t cooperate and won’t listen to me, I will think again and give up on the plans I had for them” ( Jeremiah 18: 5-10).
“The LORD will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me” ( Psalm 138:8 NLT).
David understood God. He understood where his heart came from, that he needed to maintain the purity of that heart, and that God is God (1 Samuel 13:14; 1Samuel 16:7). Today my prayer is Psalm 138:8. My decree is Proverbs 3:5-6. There have been many days when I expected God to be done with me. I wanted Him to be. I was tired of me, but He comes in like a flood and He covers me, eliminating the voice that the enemy attempts to make loud in my life.
“When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him” ( Isaiah 59:19).
We are in such a season where God is correcting our vision. He is changing the perspective that we have of ourselves-shaping our mindset into the mind of Christ. God is forcefully stripping off the old and clothing us with the new. The old things, ways, people, and mindset cannot go into the places that God is calling you to. You have a choice though. What will you choose? Will you allow God to keep forming you, or will you opt out- choosing to get off of the potter’s wheel?
Lord, I will remain. I will not lay down in defeat, and I will choose to believe what is true- meditating on what is good, lovely, and praiseworthy as Philippians 4:8 says to do. I will take up my cross and walk- knowing that there is beauty in it. There were instances where you told people to take up their bed and walk. The bed was a testimony, and their walking was evidence of the great things that you had done for them. God, you’re still doing it! You are still delivering, healing, and setting people free. You are still loving on us and telling us to proceed forward. Lord, may your people allow you to keep forming them. Give them strength and resilience. May they not grow weary or believe the lies of the enemy. May they fill themselves with your truth- praying without ceasing. In Jesus name, Amen.
