Why do we sing?
When we lift our hands to Jesus
What do we really mean ~Kirk Franklin “Why we sing?”

It’s very very easy to get lost in the realm of
religion or to get caught up in the hype of “church”. God has blessed so many
of his people with gifts and talents that range from writing and composing, to
worshiping, preaching and dancing. At my church, it seems like every one has
some sort of gift and I must admit that I feel lost in the shuffle, but that
brings me to point of asking myself questions such as ,“who am I going to church
for?” and “whose attention am I aiming for?”
Everyone wants to be noticed. We want to be praised
and we want to be the favorite child, but at what cost? What are we paying to
be number one in the congregation’s eyes? and do we even care if God is pleased
with us right where we are?
I’m the queen of being offended and I often compare myself,
my progression in Christ, and my life to others. This should not be so and who
he has made my brothers and sisters in Christ to be is not who he has called or
required me to be.
Don’t get saved and get into a church to be noticed
and praised because you work hard in the sight of men. Instead focus on the father
and know that although you may not feel like it every day, you are the apple of
his eye. He loves you just as you are. Stop trying to be who you are not and
stop trying to get into other people’s lane. I’m not called to dance. I’m not
called to preach. I’m not a great singer and I don’t take amazing pictures, but
I do love God.You have to know that you are one of his children and that you are just as amazing as the other kids that he has. God has spent just as much time on you as he has on those around you. You are not left behind and you are special.
Take a look at the life of the Samaritan woman. I’m sure that many people looked down on her and didn’t see the special and called evangelist that she was, but God did. He took her mess and the things that other people may have seen as shameful and made it into a message. This woman had a talent that she may not have even been aware of. Her talent was to speak into the life of women just like her and to spread the message of Christ. I’m sure people talked about her situation and they didn’t see her as anything special, but she was not lost in the crowd. I like to think of her as one of the unexpected blessings that God released into the world to spread his message.
God is never too busy to talk to you (Read Genesis 24!). You are noticed. You are talented. He knows you by name. You are not lost in the crowd.
