What’s in a name? / The Element of Surprise!

I love God because he can provide you with the element of surprise. God will surprise some folks with the plans that he has for your life. People will look at you and label you. They will tell you what /who you are and they will tell you what you can become. People thought that Jesus was just a carpenter’s son. I’m sure nobody would have imagined that this same man who made their cabinets 10 years ago would be the Messiah of the world. They thought that he just built furniture, but they had no idea that he was a people builder also. Think about Paul, I mean really, who would have thought that murdering Saul could turn into awesome Paul? People may look at you and prophesy untrue things about you. They may only see you with eyes of flesh, but God has such a plan for your life, it will blow your own mind. I cannot tell you how many people never thought that I would accomplish certain things. I’ve been talked about and labeled, but I serve a God who had different plans for my life other the one that man tried to assign me. God places desires in your heart that you never even thought that you could accomplish. I have to admit that I have a hard time seeing myself through the eyes of Christ. I tell him that I can’t understand why he loves me and I can’t see the things that he sees in me but I say to you and to myself, get the fog out of your eyes and look beyond the clouds. The fog is the natural realm. You have to get to a place where God himself assures you of who you are in him. I’m sure that people talked about Paul behind his back all the time. They talked about where he came from and what he used to do, but their words did not halt the progression of who God had called him to be. I believe that he was a man who was not fazed by what his former intimate circle said about him. He couldn’t be because he had such a great call on his life. You can’t live at the feet of other people’s expectations of you because the call on your life is so great. Get your name changed. God changed a lot of folks names in the bible. Abram became Abraham. Sari became Sarah. Saul became Paul. Simon became Peter. God will give you a name that will shock the world. He will give you a name that matches your destiny and what he has called you to be. God will give you assurance in the things that he has called you to do because he will give you a name that will confirm it. Stop missing the old friends and the old life style and walk in God’s element of surprise.

Have you ever had a childhood item that you loved? That thing may be worn, dirty, and falling apart, but you hold on to it because of sentimental value such as the memories attached to it . That item could be anything. It could be cloths, a toy, or even a picture. In many of our lives the old sentimental thing that we hold on to is our sin. We attach unhealthy sentimental values it. Many of these sins originated in our childhood so we hold on to it and in most cases, hope that no one ever sees it. God taught David how to fight. He fought a lot of personal battles before he was strong enough to fight the battles that we know him for today. David had to know how to depend on God in private before he could publicly show us how to depend on Him. David had to fight other people’s opinion of him even up until the moment that he was anointed to be king. Nobody looked at little David and saw a king. There are moments and seasons that are not defined by man or their opinions. In those moments “their” opinions don’t matter, your background does not matter, and your last name does not matter. Every day I am learning that I am not my own. In spiritual warfare you cannot do the things that you used to do, say the things that you used to say, watch the things that you used to watch, or even hang around the people that you used to hang around. In many ways I am stubborn in all theses things and I have to be honest and say that I pay the price mentally for it. Becoming great takes faith. Peter did not become great in the twinkle of an eye. He had to go through things. This same man who stood up boldly to tell people about the Holy Spirit also once denied Jesus. Take Up Your Cross

God paved the way for my present and my future with the prayers that He placed into my heart many years ago. I didn’t know what new challenges I would have to overcome or what would be required of me as I uttered the sentiments of my heart into His ears. All I knew was that I wanted to serve Him. “For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God” (Exodus 34:15 KJV). As I was up late watching videos of people talking about the personal lives of celebrities, I thought about the fact that it is crazy to worship those people. I thought about the fact that we actually worship flesh and I thought about the fact that we will all die someday. There have been extremely talented individuals that have passed away and their talent went with them. These individuals were considered to be iconic and they were worshiped because of it. Theses celebrities had gifts that were not known to be used for the One that gave it to them. These people had beautiful things and they had gatherings where people called out their names and raised their hands in worship to them, but what about God? Becoming Purified

Diamonds are treasured around the world, so treasured that people produce fakes just to meet the demand of the masses that desire them. You are just as treasured. Don’t allow the world around you to make you into a fake. Becoming purified comes along with tests and trails. Purified water is filtered to get all of the contaminates out. I mean really, who wants dirty water? Child of God you are a light that God has sent to shine in dim places. You are a well holding his life changing, life giving water and you are as valuable to him as a diamond that has been created under pressure. Don’t you see that God is filtering you? Be A Big Mouth!

“ Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?”(John 4:29 KJV). I don’t know the name of the Samaritan woman that the Lord meant at the well, but she is one of my favorite people in the Bible. I also don’t know what happened to her after her encounter with Jesus, but I do believe that she went home that day and told the man that she was with to leave because someone else had stolen her heart. Many times we judge people by their behavior instead of really taking a look at why they act the way that they do. The Samaritan woman must have heard some really awful things about herself to go to the well at a time when she knew that no one else would be there. Perhaps she didn’t want to be bothered with people and their options or perhaps she wanted to use that time to be alone. This woman was known, but perhaps she suffered from the shame of only wanting to fill a void in her heart. We don’t know how the woman at the well grew up or how she felt emotional...
