Give your self-permission to receive and walk in the
grace that God gives you. King David had to allow himself to receive grace. He
was not perfect, but he knew how to remorsefully repent and he knew how to position
himself at the feet of the King. David messed up while walking in his purpose.
He tried to hide his sin, but God saw it and confronted him on it. We have to
know how to receive God when He confronts us with the good, the bad, and the
ugly. We can choose to continue to sin or we can choose to submit to our Father
and repent. God does not expect for us to be perfect, but He does expect for us
to be submitted.
Saul lost his
position with God before he lost his position with man. He cared about what
people thought more than he cared about what God thought. Both King David and
King Saul serve as an example of how we can choose to listen to God or ignore
Him when He confronts us about our sin.
There are so many people who are dying because they are
hiding something. They may be allowing guilt to kill them or they may be dying
because they refuse to accept that they are wrong.
David is known for both the good and the bad things
that he has done, but he is most associated with having a heart after God’s
own. I pray to mirror the heart of God. I pray to submit to who He is over that
of submitting to being liked by people. I pray that we will be able to receive
the grace of God and I pray that we will be able to forgive ourselves for that
thing that the devil tries to hang over our heads.
Give yourself permission to be free because Jesus has
already given it to you.
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be
free indeed” (John 8:36 KJV).
*Encouragement/ Notes: Everybody won’t understand the
grace on your life. They will look at you, they will look at your mistakes,
they will look at your past, and wonder why it is that you still have favor.
Those people may even be doing the same things that you were doing that were
wrong, but they misunderstand repentance. They forget that God looks at the
heart and that He weighs actions. Saul was sinful and David committed sins.
Saul didn’t understand repentance, but he understood popularity. There were
times when David was not so popular, but he understood repentance and the
presence of God. You can have all the gifts that are under heaven, but if you don’t
know God, that means nothing.
Grace is not a free pass to sin, but it is an opportunity
to ask for forgiveness so that you can stop sinning.
