As I was reading a devotional today I saw the word
crushed. I love this word! I also love the words broken and wrecked. To most
people these words are destructive and may even evoke an emotion of pain, but
to me, these words are beautiful. There is beauty in the crushing. There is
beauty in brokenness. There is beauty in being wreaked. Yes, beauty is in the
eye of the beholder, but what and who have you allowed to dictate what you
consider to be beautiful?
To be very honest, just because I stated that I love
the before mentioned words, that does not mean that I love the process that
comes with them. Life hurts. We have ups and we have downs, but what have you allowed
your perspective to be in the midst of every painful experience that you have
endured? I have had so many things attempt to take me out, but the beauty that
I have found is that God always seems to hold me together.
I have had my heart completely wreaked by people and
by life over and over again, but the trials have taught and continue to teach
me the beauty that my purpose holds.
Moses, David, and Jesus were all broken, crushed, and wreaked in the
course of their lives, but they were also all great men of God.
The crushing brings you closer to Christ because in
the midst of it, you learn that you can do nothing on your own. Your brokenness
will eliminate pride and teach you to cry out the Lord. You are never too high
to cry out to God for anything. Being wreaked will teach you how to be your
true self in front of Christ. Your attempt to act put together means little to
Him especially if it is all an act.
Celebrate your flaws and know that God is faithful to
complete you in Him if you are willing to be real with yourself. God already knows your truth even when you think that you are hiding it from Him. Freedom comes when you understand that you are safe in Christ.
“Being
confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will
perform it until the day of
Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6 KJV).
The Lord is so faithful! He is so loving even when
life causes us to not feel His love because the pain seems so intense. Today I
pray that you know that God loves you so much. You are so dear to His heart and
I pray that a desire in you will develop to feel and be close to His very heart
beat. I pray that grace and mercy follow you where ever you go. In Jesus name,
Amen.
Don’t give up in the midst of the crushing, breaking,
and wreaking! There is beauty in your process!
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye
fall into divers temptations; Knowing this,
that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be
perfect and entire, wanting nothing” (James 1:2-4 KJV).
*The point that the clay pots serve is to show you that something beautiful can be done with things that have been broken. The pots are still useful and they are more exposed than ever! Brokenness does not equate to uselessness.
