As
adults we often forget how to be children. We do what we want to do and forget
how to listen. What does it mean to you when God says to come to him as a
little child? Does that mean just listening or just being obedient?
NEWS FLASH! You cannot do
one without the other. You have to listen so that you can receive the
instructions you need to be obedient.
How
can you really know that you’re being obedient if you don’t listen? Like
children we get distracted. We stop to look at all the pretty flowers and trees
when God is telling us to not touch anything and to focus.
Why
do you despise correction? God only wants to see you prosper and succeed.
God
is merely trying to instill the same values in you that you attempt to instill
in your children. Your children get upset with you when you punish them, but they
forgive you. Why do you continue to stay upset with God when something does not
go your way?
Verses to think about:
"Blessed
is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty”
(Job 5:17).
“My
people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).
“If
any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all
without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (James 1:5)
"Truly I tell you, unless you change and
become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew
18:3).
“Truly
I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child
will never enter it." (Mark 10:15).
