The process of Becoming

“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows” (Luke 12:7).

The thing that I have come to appreciate about God is His attention to and His eye for detail. I mean, look at the world around us. We have water falls, the sun, and the stars in the sky to admire. I especially admire waterfalls because I like to believe that man can’t recreate them. Look at your life and notice the special details that God is using to form you into the man or woman that he has called you to be. Sure, some of the edges of your life are not smooth and yes you have had some sharp and painful experiences, but what have you learned? Your unsmooth edges and those painful experiences are all a part of your process of becoming.

That beautiful water fall or that masterful painting goes through a process before it is truly complete in the eye of the creator. Some people may pass by you and think that you are beautiful in the midst of your process, but God knows that there is more on the inside of you. I am always amazed by the way that God loves me because I know that I am underserving. I know my ways, but so does God. Stop beating yourself and believing that God can’t use you. God will give you ashes for beauty, but you have to be patient with Him. You wonder why you are going through so much and it is because you are in the process of becoming. The process of becoming is a process of learning. This process is not always an easy one, but it is necessary to sustain you and keep you on the way to your destiny.

The thing that I love about Jeremiah and Moses is that they both asked God to send someone else when they were chosen. The thing that I love about God is that I believe that he got angry when His sons suggested this option to Him. God is passionate about us. Even when we don’t feel like it, He has always watched over us and preserved our lives. We all have a purpose and an expected end. When God calls us, we often don’t know what to say or how we will accomplish the task, but God says that IF we open our mouths He will fill it (Psalm 81:10). All you have to do is move. Moving takes faith. God will do everything that He has spoken to you, but first you have to have the faith to just move.

The truth is that everything that you have been through has brought you to the very place that you are in your walk with Christ and in your life. We don’t look our past as tools that God has given us to use for our assignment, but we instead use our past as an excuse to not do what God has called us to do. God tells us that “before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations (Jeremiah 1:5)". This description may not sound like where you are right now in your life, but this is what the process and faith is for. God knows every inch of you because He created you.

Lord in Jesus name, I pray to submit to the process and to trust you with all of me. I pray to talk to you before I make any decision and I pray to listen for your voice. Lord teach me your ways. I pray to be God led and not led by my emotions. I pray to remember that you have a plan for my life despite where I see my self today. Lord I pray to be confident and remember that “He who began a good work in me will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:16). In Jesus name.

Why Are You Here?

During an encounter that I had with a young person recently, I told them that things were difficult for them because there were some things that they would need to do that had never been done before. The analogy that I used to help this person understand what I was saying to them was that of a wilderness full of trees. I told this young person that they would be the first one to cut down the trees in that wilderness to create a smooth path for those coming behind them. The same is true for many of us. There are large trees that we must cut down so that those coming behind us won’t have to fight as hard as we are fighting, and they will not stumble because we are destroying everything at the root that is attempting to block us. The task of doing this may seem difficult but the testimony is worth it. You have to be able to identify the things that have hindered individuals in your lineage, know what the signs of those things are in your own life, and then eliminate it. ...

So many women define themselves by their relationship status. I used to be one of those women. It didn’t matter if that man cheated on me, lied to me, or insulted me; I was not going to leave him. “Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening” (Acts 16:25 NLT). Paul and Silas were some bad boys! Can you imagine doing the right thing and being locked up because of it? Eat The Meat

I am not sure what age my parents took my bottle away, but I do know that I was old enough to understand that it was time for me to give it up. I remember wanting a pool, and my father told me that I could have the pool if I threw the bottle away. He didn’t have to tell me twice. I put the bottle in the trash and found it back on the counter a little while later. Perhaps my parents knew that I would not adjust well, or perhaps they didn’t want to find out what it would look like for me to go through that transition in that moment in time. Visionary: See It Before You See It

One of things that I ask God for in my prayer time is the ability to be able to hear Him. I want to hear God clearly when He speaks to me. I don’t want to drown out His voice which is easy for me to do because I have a tendency to be easily distracted. When God has shown us something, we cannot allow ourselves to get off task. When God Calls You to Trust Him While He’s Making You Who He Wants You to Be!

One of the hardest but most comforting aspects of this Christian walk is the fact that God actually knows the purposes and plans that he has for our lives. In everything we go through there is a purpose. When I was out in the world I thought I had a plan. My plan was to become a doctor, maybe move in with my boyfriend, and get saved later. The Importance of Knowing How to Pray

No matter what mental state you are in, where you are in life, or who you have around you, prayer will always be the heartbeat of your survival. You need to know how to pray during both the mountain top experiences and the valley experiences. If no one ever taught me anything, I learned how to express myself to God through prayer. Prayer isn’t always about asking God for things, but you can actually sit with Him and tell Him how you feel. There have been moments in my life where I felt like the Lord was the only one that I could talk to about what was going on in my life. You have to get into a place where you begin to communicate with God as you would with anyone else. There are times when I speak out loud to God because I know that He is around me. Walk on Water Faith

Becoming great takes faith. Peter did not become great in the twinkle of an eye. He had to go through things. This same man who stood up boldly to tell people about the Holy Spirit also once denied Jesus. We have to be so prayed up in Christ because we don’t always know what our flesh or our circumstances will cause us to do. The struggle to greatness gets real! David had to fight many battles not only in the world, but in the kingdom of God because he was called to greatness. David wrote many psalms documenting his trails and successes. He was a man after God’s own heart, but yet he was not perfect. We go through things that help sustain us in this life and we can’t remain discouraged by the hurts that the world throws at us.
