Answer The Call

I think that we all know what it’s like to miss an important call, right? We move our schedules around and we keep our phones glued to us; but unfortunately, there are still times when we end up missing that call that means so much to us. How about times when we miss a call that was important, and we were not expecting it? We may recognize the number on the caller id, but the person on the other end has already hung up or they do not answer their phone by time we are able to call them back. To make a long story short, it’s not good to miss an important call. When we do, we become inconvenienced and have to wait for that phone call to come again.
We all know what it’s like to miss an important call from a person, but what about the times that we have missed a call from the Lord? We all have so much to do and think about that we miss a special call from Jesus daily. We get so caught up in tradition and prayer times, that we miss the call to be the church at all times. Church is not just Sunday and Wednesday service, church is a life style. We are supposed to feed the hungry, take care of widows, take care of the orphans, and encourage one another; but life can consume us if we are not carful.
It’s hard work being something that we have reduced to merely being a building. It’s hard work going around doing good and turning the other check when we have jobs, dreams, kids, husbands, bills, and so many other distractions. We cry for the world, but what are we actually doing to change it. We give on mission Sundays but refuse to be light in the Walmart line when we see the person in front us have to put some of their groceries up because they can’t afford it.
We are light. We are the salt of the earth. We are the ones that are supposed to be full of the Holy Ghost, but we get ghost when people need us the most.
Lord, help me to be the church. Help me to be a good bride in your kingdom. Help me to turn the other check when people hurt me. Help me to forgive. Help me to go into all the world, preach the gospel, and do good. Help me to not be selfish with the life that you have allowed me to have. Help me to more like Jesus. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Recommend Reading: "I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it! (John 14:12 -14NLT).
In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary. And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So, we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen, while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So, God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity. This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it” (1 Corinthians 12:22-26 NLT).
