This morning as I was thinking about the fact that God
gives us a new start each year, the word reset
came to mind. I tried to figure out why that word came to mind, and I began to
look up its meaning. I have listed the meaning in the noun, verb, and adjective
forms.
Reset-
set again differently, cause to enter the state representing the number 0, a
plant that is planted again, to restore, a plant that has been recently
transplanted, adjust again after a failure, set anew.
Once I found the meaning of the word reset, I began to look for synonyms associated with it. Words like order, switch, replace, shift, changed,
corrected, reformed, prepare, recondition, make ready, modify, do over, reappraise,
and rework came up. At this point, I
got a little excited and began to wonder how the Lord reset His people in the
bible and what that word means concerning me. One of the first thoughts that
crossed my mind pertained to the prophet Isaiah and the time that hot coal was
placed over his mouth (Isaiah 6:5-8). Isaiah had an unclean mouth and came from
a people that had unclean mouths, but God changed and shifted Isaiah so that
his confession had to change.
I thank God for the shifting this year. I thank God
for resetting His people. When God resets you, He is doing it so that you can
work properly and in a new way that you didn’t before. Isaiah was a priest, but
he was a priest with unclean lips. He needed to be reset. When you reset
something, it works more efficiently and has less kinks. It goes back to the way
that the factory intended for it to work. All viruses are wiped out and it works
like new. Claim that for yourself!
I thank God for the resetting of mind frames, and
thought patterns this year. In order to walk in the fullness of God, we have to
have thoughts that align with His and not with what our situation is telling
us. You have to know that God will take care of you as you walk in your
purpose. Following God can be scary, but provision is in the midst of human
doubt once it is overcome.
There is a beautiful reminder in the book of Matthew
that says “Therefore I say unto you, Take
no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet
for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the
body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do
they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye
not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit
unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider
the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like
one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today
is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye
of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we
eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (Matthew
6:25-31 KJV).
In all honesty, I have been thinking about the very
same worries that Jesus instructed us to take no thought of. I was wondering
how I was going to take care of myself and my needs, but I was reminded of who my
Father is. The prophet Elijah and the widow had this same reminder.
God took care of Elijah. Elijah was feed by both ravens and by angels. God never left him and reset him when he needed it most.
God knows when the journey is to hard for you and He will send a miracle to
help you accomplish the path that He has set you on.
Elijah was in the midst of being provided for and God
sent him to minister to a widow who needed a piece of his testimony. God
hit the reset button on the life of the widow. She was running out food for her
and her son, but God caused the drought to not hit her house hold.
What about you needs to be reset today? Do you need
your thought patterns to be reset? Do you need your confession to be reset? Do
you need the old thinking patterns that were passed down from generation to
generation to be reset? Today, I pray that you know that God can do just that.
Lord, In Jesus name, I thank you for 2018. I thank you for
shifting old minds sets and for refunctioning your people. Lord, I thank you
for showing us that you are God over all. You are bigger than any worry and you
are a God that provides for His people. I thank you that the barrel of meal
shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail. I thank you for
multiplied faith this year. I thank you that general curses will be broken this
year and people will see Your word come to pass this year. Thank you for the
promises of last year Lord. Thank you for the manifestations that will come by
faith and obedience this year. You are Lord over all, In Jesus name Amen
