Walk on Water Faith

Becoming great takes faith. Peter did not become great in the twinkle of an eye. He had to go through things. This same man who stood up boldly to tell people about the Holy Spirit also once denied Jesus. We have to be so prayed up in Christ because we don’t always know what our flesh or our circumstances will cause us to do. The struggle to greatness gets real! David had to fight many battles not only in the world, but in the kingdom of God because he was called to greatness. David wrote many psalms documenting his trails and successes. He was a man after God’s own heart, but yet he was not perfect. We go through things that help sustain us in this life and we can’t remain discouraged by the hurts that the world throws at us. I admire the bravery of the apostles because I don’t know how well I would have done emotionally if whole systems were coming against me. These men were beat, lied on, and put in prison because of the Christ that they were representing. People will persecute you because of the Christ that you represent.

Where is your faith in the midst of turmoil? Can you maintain in the battles of life or are you just trying to make it to the valley top of success. Success does not always guarantee you happiness. Compare your knowledge of the world to your knowledge of Jesus. Has the world been able to heal your hope, heal your body, or reunite your family? O you of little faith, the same God that saved you from hell can also sustain you in this life. The goal is heaven not money, friendship, marriage or fame.

Some of us will do a lot of things that are out of our character just to fit in with people that don’t even like us. I know that I have and I still do. We are created in Christ’s image and that automatically makes us different. People will not always like you because of the light of Jesus that shines through you. You have to keep your morals and your standards in a world that recommends that you don’t act like Jesus.

I pray for your heart in Christ. I have met some people that have made me question God because of the Jesus that they show me. Everyone that says they represent Christ is not always telling the truth. God will give us role models, but we also have to weigh people that we look up to against the character of Jesus.

The other disciples may have thought that Peter was crazy to walk on water, when really, he may have just wanted to go to place in God that they were not ready for or that they did not have the desire for. That walk that you have with Jesus is yours. Don’t allow people to give their opinions on what God is doing in you if it is negative or if they really don’t know the Lord.

Lord I pray for those that want to be close to your heart. I pray for the Peters of the world. Those that have the strength and faith to leave others just so that they can be close to you. I pray that you sustain them and that you hold their hand through the shakiness of life. God I thank you for your consistency. I pray for the grace to seek you and to continue to seek you. I pray that you allow me to sit in your presence and stay there. Lord I pray to be close to your heart beat and I pray that you will be what matters to me. I pray for the faith to walk on water. In Jesus name.

Why Are You Here?

During an encounter that I had with a young person recently, I told them that things were difficult for them because there were some things that they would need to do that had never been done before. The analogy that I used to help this person understand what I was saying to them was that of a wilderness full of trees. I told this young person that they would be the first one to cut down the trees in that wilderness to create a smooth path for those coming behind them. The same is true for many of us. There are large trees that we must cut down so that those coming behind us won’t have to fight as hard as we are fighting, and they will not stumble because we are destroying everything at the root that is attempting to block us. The task of doing this may seem difficult but the testimony is worth it. You have to be able to identify the things that have hindered individuals in your lineage, know what the signs of those things are in your own life, and then eliminate it. ...

Preparation in Waiting

One thing that I have learned about God over the years is that his plan for my life is so much greater than my own. I have also learned that his vision can be more than I can bear at times because I have a tendency to try to make the parts that he has revealed to me come to pass on my own. So many women define themselves by their relationship status. I used to be one of those women. It didn’t matter if that man cheated on me, lied to me, or insulted me; I was not going to leave him. When Your Season Lacks Applause

Everyone wants to fulfill your purpose until they realize what it costs you to say yes to God. People judge struggles and trials that they have not had to survive in. They want what you have, but lack the understanding of the number of tears that you have shed in order to continue to bend when the applause of man says that you should stand- up and be honored when you do something great. Your greatness is attributed to God, but people who merely seek applause from others have no idea what that really means. “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images” (Isaiah 42:8). Eat The Meat

I am not sure what age my parents took my bottle away, but I do know that I was old enough to understand that it was time for me to give it up. I remember wanting a pool, and my father told me that I could have the pool if I threw the bottle away. He didn’t have to tell me twice. I put the bottle in the trash and found it back on the counter a little while later. Perhaps my parents knew that I would not adjust well, or perhaps they didn’t want to find out what it would look like for me to go through that transition in that moment in time. To make a long story short, I continued to use that bottle after I threw it away, and I never got that pool that I wanted. Growing up never excited me, and I suffered for many years because of it.
